Earth day may be two months behind us but that doesn't mean we should stop taking steps in our daily life to make the planet a bit better. We've created a list on how to get started. These may seem simple but every little bit helps and together we can make a huge difference. 

1. Sustainable Home Improvements 

You spend so much time in your home so why no make it more eco-friendly. Start small by switching out your lightbulbs to LED, add a few plants to your living room or bedroom, or install a water-efficient shower head. 

2. Reuse, Recycle, or Donate Used Items 

This might seem like a given but instead of throwing out old clothes, used items, furniture or more, look into how they can be recycled or donated. For example, 42 Birds cork yoga mats should never been thrown away. You can reused them for craft projects or recycle with the Cork Forest Conservation Alliance – they have dropboxes at Whole Foods around the country. 

3. Eat Vegetarian For One Day a Week 

Make #MeatlessMondays more than a social media trend, start to incorporate it into your weekly diet. Animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of greenhouse gas emissions and reducing your meat intake can make a huge difference. Plus it's good for you! 

4. Take a Walk, or Bike 

Instead of jumping in the car or calling a ride, take a walk or bike to where you have to go. Not only is this an easy way to get some extra exercise, it will help reduce your carbon footprint.  

5. Skip Hot Water When Doing Laundry 

About 90% of the energy used while washing clothes goes to heat the water so wash in cold whenever possible. It also helps prevent fading and shrinking, which will make your clothes last longer as well!
